Is it possible to extend my Student Visa?

Where do I get a visa if I am not in the UK?

You must apply to the British embassy in your country with a Certificate of Enrolment from your school and with evidence that you can support yourself, either by:

Getting a British national who is a permanent resident of London to sponsor you.

 Arranging accommodation (including food) for your stay

Showing that you have enough money to support yourself with a bank statement and valid credit card

What if I receive a tourist Visa on arrival in the UK?

Certain countries, including Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Slovenia, Brazil, Mexico, Panama and Argentina can receive up to a six-month tourist visa on arrival. You may study but you may not work.

This can be changed to a student visa by applying to the Home Office. Get the correct application form printed off the Internet and send in your application before your visa expires. This may take some time and it may be denied. A new visa should be applied for in the country of the person applying - you may have to go back home to begin a a new visa application.


I would like to extend my studies; can I extend my visa?

Yes you can. We will help you to prepare your application to send to the Home Office and we will advise you regarding the documents you will need to send with your application form.


Am I allowed to work if I am on a student visa?

Yes, with student visa you are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours a week. During the holidays students are allowed to work full time (40 hours a week).

Why is TCCL (UK) cheaper than some other Colleges?

Are there any other charges not included in the tuition fees?

In addition to the tuition fees there is a registration fee of £25. Accommodation and books must also be paid for separately.


Can I take holidays from my studies?

Yes you can - if your course is full time and more than 8 weeks long.

3 month course - 2 weeks holiday

6 month course - 4 weeks holiday

9 month course - 6 weeks holiday

12 month course - 8 weeks holiday


Do I have to take holidays?

No. You can finish your course without any breaks. However, the College shuts for the UK public holidays (Christmas and New Year, for example).

What type of accommodation can TCCL (UK) arrange for me?

TCCL (UK) has close links with specialist Homestay agencies in London, and we can book a place in a host family for you. We can also help by giving you advice on the many different types of accommodation available (host families, hostels, hotels and shared flats, etc.)

Which books will I need to buy?

Our teachers prepare lessons using a variety of books, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet as well as audio-visual resources. This material is provided in class free of charge. You will not be required to buy any book as part of your course. You may, however, find an English dictionary useful. For students preparing for examinations, we also recommend specific books to help them with their studies. The college can also recommend books for General English courses.

Will I be able to borrow books from the College?

Yes. The College is constantly adding books and other resources to its library. We also have a large selection of weekly magazines, newspapers and articles of special interest at our students' disposal.


What social activities does TCCL (UK) organise?

TCCL (UK) arranges outings to museums and galleries, visits to pubs, quiz nights, picnics in the park, staff/student parties, cultural events and visits to London attractions. Every week one of the teachers plans the social programme for the week. They carefully search through all the newspapers, magazines and London Life websites to find activities which are interesting, stimulating and affordable.

Do I receive a certificate at the end of the course?

TCCL (UK) awards a certificate to all students upon successful completion of a course.


Do you provide one-to-one tuition?

 Yes, we can arrange one-to-one tuition. Times currently available are: mornings, afternoons or evenings. Weekends by special arrangement. Most one-to-one tutorials are held at  the school, but we can also arrange to come to your home or place of work.
