Financial Management

Overview:

Around the world financial best practice is increasingly regulated, and our new Financial Management programme provides students with the knowledge needed to communicate effectively in a business and financial context. The ABE Financial Management program allows you to specialise in a dynamic and creative area that can have a great impact on the bottom line of a company.

The first Financial Management program at the Certificate level will start from September 2007 and continues to the Diploma level from early January 2008 and the Advanced Diploma level from June 2008.

Students completing the programme will have the opportunity to progress to the final stages of a degree as well as enhanced career prospects.

Course Structure:

The four compulsory subjects are:

1. Introduction to Business
2. Introduction to Cost and Management Accounting
3. Introduction to Financial Accounting
4. Introduction to Business Communication

• The Certificate papers are set and marked to BTEC National Certificate standard.
• Following passes in the four subjects above, the successful student will be awarded the Certificate in Business Administration.
• It is suggested that 80 study hours should be devoted to each subject.
• No exemption is granted from any subject in the Certificate examination.
• The Method of Assessment for all ABE subjects is by written examination and the following Grades are awarded:

Grade A - 70%+ Distinction
Grade B - 55-69% Credit
Grade C - 40-54% Pass
Grade D - 30-39% Fail
Grade E - 29% and below Fail

Candidates will be notified individually of their results normally about two months after the examinations.

Pre-requisites:

No formal qualifications are required but applicants should demonstrate competence in English by the attainment of one of the following:

• British Council – Intermediate Certificate in English/Upper Advanced Certificate in English
• LCCI – English for Business (EFB) 1st or 2nd level
• Pitman/City and Guilds - English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/English for Business and Communication

For Practitioners Programme in Human Resource Management, applicants should also be at least 20 years of age.

Duration:

One Academic Year (9 months)
